Las Pinas Project Las Pinas orphanage was founded in 1980. Originally in a middle class neighborhood which has since regressed to present level of poverty. The founding Didi nurtured, educated, and guided twelve infants and children through the stages of their development. Funding and support for the food, clothing, rent, and maintenance for the orphanage was derived by Anada Marga members and sympathizers. Food was partially subsidized by various local markets. Every Sunday the children were taken to the Paco Ananda Marga center for collective meditation with fellow Anada Marga members. The educational needs for the residents of this all girls home were provided by local elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Two of the original twelve young ladies went on to college. The last of the original orphans left the nest in 1999. All of the original Las Pinas women are now married, most are raising their own children locally and few of the women have found new lives in foreign countries. |

From 1999 until 2001, the buildings were used as a meditation retreat and residence for Didis. As of 2001 the orphanage has been utilized as kindergarten for local under-privileged female only children. The parents of the young students have fallen through societies economical cracks and are forced to dwell in the local slums. They arrive every morning at the school's door with their sole hopes in hand. The school presently tutors twenty-five children from this poverty stricken area. The school provides the students with their school materials, and a healthy snack on Friday . School curriculum is based on Neo-Humanist Education system founded by an Indian visionary , philosopher and educator by the name of Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar (1921-1990).

To afford the minimum tuitions required to purchase basic learning tools; paper, pencils, and text books is an extremely heavy burden. In order provide the teachers salary and pay costs, we ask Anada Marga members and sympathizers for donations. These contributions cover land purchase, construction, maintenance, utilities, and any unexpected expenses incurred. The Ananda Marga Women's Welfare Department Foundation is a 100 % female volunteer administered and staffed program.
