Bicol Projects

The Unlad Bata Day Care Service and Learning Resource Center, Is located in rural Bicol province, on the Anada Laghudiipa model farm. It will primarily assist 60 children of  the local farmers and indigenous Aeta peoples and their families.

  The project is designed to introduce special care and learning activities that are characterized to be holistic, socially integrated, gender sensitive, culture or situational based , progressive and self-sustaining to provide  healthy values and moral for growth of the child.  It will also simultaneously better equip the parents and other family members to be actively responsive to the child's growth.

  The day care service, supervised by a hired teacher and teachers aid will provide activities designed to enhance learning skills for the children of the poverty stricken rural area.  The day care service will also free up the parents so they can train and improve their work skills.

We all benefit from helping others to be self   sufficient

    Preventative medicine techniques and education on proper diet will be provided in the school as well as introduced the home setting. Nutritional lunches shall be served at the day care school on a regular basis.

  Health issues will be addressed by local medical and dental doctors on a weekly or monthly basis.  In addition there will be an on site bi-annual medical clinic supplied by Manila based doctors / dentists.

  The library resource facility will supply educational text to the children and training manuals to the parents.

  The Learning  Resource Center will initiate a parent – teacher program wherein  teachers and parents will work together closely in order to assure the best results from the educational services provided by the center and in the families homes

  Field trips, campouts, forest planting, organic gardening, and farm exposures will be experienced in the Children and Youth Advancement Activities programs

  Adult training and education programs are designed to bond both children and parents in a cycle of constant academic and practical educational improvement and  cooperative family unity.

  The center shall work closely with existing government agencies like the provincial Department of Education, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Health, and other local non-government agencies like the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (D.A.E.T. branch).
